RURAL SCHOOLS, HOSPITALS AND CLINICS:
R
ural schools, hospitals and clinics all over Africa and the developing world require power desperately in order to increase the level of service that is provided at these institutions.
The fitting of a solar power system at a rural school for lights, television, VCR, satellite dish and computer printer combination will not only increase the education results achieved tenfold but can play a very important role in the social upliftment of rural communities. People that are unable to read can attend night classes; villagers can be shown videos on health issues, crop production, home industry, etc

Millions of Rand’s or Dollars are lost annually in most developing countries on vaccines rendered ineffective due to being stored in thermal absorption refrigerators at incorrect temperatures in rural clinics or hospitals. Most vaccines must to be stored in temperatures of between +2°C and +8°C and others need to be kept frozen. These temperatures can only be effectively controlled with proper thermostatically controlled compressor driven solar vaccine refrigerators.
Apart from the solar vaccine refrigerator, the introduction of decent lighting in at least the maternity ward and emergency room could do a lot to save lives. Other nice and helpful extras in a rural clinic are two-way radio communication with a district hospital, medical inspection lamps, UV sterilisers, electronic insect control and potable water.
